MSC Cruises has unveiled its first thrill ride at sea, Cliffhanger, aboard its newest ship MSC World America, a sister ship to MSC World Europa and the largest vessel the brand has ever homeported in the US.
Cliffhanger will be the only over-water swing ride at sea, debuting exclusively aboard MSC World America when the ship enters service in April 2025.
The ride will sit atop the new ship’s uppermost deck within the ship’s Family Aventura district and will have four seats hanging from powered arms that swing riders up and over the edge of the deck.

From there, riders are propelled back and forth, high above the waterline and dangling 160 feet above the ocean below, with a view that oscillates between the water below and the sky above.
MSC World America is due to be named at PortMiami on April 9th, 2025. The new ship will homeport in the city offering Caribbean cruises for the North American market.
The ship will boast seven distinct districts, each with its own atmosphere, facilities and experiences, enabling guests of all ages to choose their own vacation adventure and get the most out of their time on board.
During the ship’s inaugural season, it will sail 7-night itineraries to some of the most sought-after destinations in the Eastern and Western Caribbean, with all cruises including stops at Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve – MSC Cruises’ unique private island paradise in The Bahamas.

MSC World America has been carefully designed to help reduce her impact on the environment and runs on LNG, a lower-emissions fuel, while her engine design is also future-ready for renewable energy sources.
Shore power connectivity, where available, reduces emissions by allowing the ship’s engines to be switched off in port, and smart technology is used throughout the ship to ensure guests can travel in comfort while keeping energy and water use low.
A robust onboard recycling program minimises waste, and even the propellers are designed to reduce noise and avoid disturbing marine life.
MSC World America will carry more than 6,700 passengers and will feature a wide variety of 20 bars, lounges, and cafés, as well as several dozen restaurants and onboard amenities, from a world-class gym and spa to six swimming pools and 14 whirpools.
